La Bienal Colombiana de Arquitectura y Urbanismo selecciona principalmente a los proyectos que, por su calidad, contribuyen a preservar y mejorar los valores urbanos, históricos, ambientales, sociales y culturales del medio en el cual han sido realizados. Sólo uno de los proyectos galardonados recibe el mayor de los reconocimientos: el Premio Nacional de Arquitectura.
